“Ohjaaa! – Loving Sex”: WDR sex format gets new episodes
Let’s talk about sex – on WDR. Starting in June 2021, the public broadcaster will show new episodes of the sex magazine “Ohjaaa! – Loving Sex. The pilot episode of the format, the only episode broadcast to date, is one of the most successful VODs in the ARD media library.
WDR magazine on love, sex and partnership gets new episodes
There was a great deal of surprise when, at the beginning of January this year, WDR showed the new format “Ohjaaa! – Sex lieben” on the subject of “Love, Sex and Partnership” in defiance of the staid image of the public TV station network. And the pilot episode was extremely well received by viewers. This is evidenced by the viewing figures in the ARD media library. With 924,000 views (as of May 9, 2021) in the “Documentaries and Reports” category, it is the most-watched program there.
Reason enough for those responsible to provide more. Starting on June 24, 2021, “Ohjaaa! – Loving Sex” will be broadcast weekly on WDR with three new episodes on a wide variety of sex topics. A rerun of the pilot episode will be shown one week beforehand. Further episodes will follow in the fall, so that the first season of the magazine will have a total of six episodes.
What “Ohjaaa! – Loving Sex” is all about
In “Ohjaaa! – Loving Sex,” hosts Annabell Neuhof and Yared Dibaba talk about intimate sex topics that are usually covered in silence – especially in public. They believe that even something as delicate as love and eroticism should be discussed openly and without bias. Only in this way, they say, is a good sex life possible.
The presenters talk to experts and share their own experiences in order to be able to impart new knowledge about sexuality to the viewers in a relaxed manner. For example, the pilot episode was about solo sex, i.e. masturbation. The three new episodes have the topics “Orgasm,” “Relationship Sex” and “Lust.
The interviewees include sex therapist Dr. Melanie Büttner, American sex activist Carlin Ross and sex toy product designer Simone Kalz. All three give viewers a deeper insight into their respective fields. The latter, for example, explains in detail how sex toys are made.
Yared Dibaba, the male part of the moderator duo, talks to proctologist Zrino Anton Nakic and men’s coach Martin Rheinländer about orgasms through prostate massage. Annabell Neuhof, in turn, learns from bodyworker Anandi Iris Mittnacht how the so-called cervical orgasm puts women in a state similar to intoxication.
Where and how can “Ohjaaa! – Loving Sex” be viewed?
“Ohjaaa! – Sex lieben” runs on 17.06.21, 24.06.21, 01.07.21 and 08.07.21 from 22.15 in each case on free-to-air television from WDR. In addition, the three new editions will be available in the ARD-Mediathek from June 17.
Furthermore, “Ohjaaa! – Loving Sex” will be available as a podcast version on WDR 2 and as a regular column on “Frau TV”.
